Have you ever really wondered what steers your success?
I mean, what really causes your success or failure in life?
Everyday we consciously think about certain things. Things we want to accomplish in our reality.
And we consciously think that we KNOW certain things to be true about what we think….we think.
But what’s REALLY steering the ship?
You may think about the things you want.
Or the places you want to travel to.
Or the home you want to live in.
Or the car you want to drive.
Or the great things you want to do for your church or charity.
But the reality is that….
It’s your SUBCONSCIOUS MIND
that’s in control of your success or failure.
In fact, if your subconscious mind doesn’t believe it to be true.
If deep down inside at your CORE, you don’t believe it to be true.
If you don’t feel worthy or deserving of what you think you think. If you don’t feel like you are worthy or deserving of that abundance flow. If your thoughts, words and emotions are not congruent with your subconscious mind?
It will NEVER happen in a million years.
The worse part is that you could even be taking massive action with the pedal to the metal. But your subconscious mind is like having the other foot on the brakes without you even realizing it.
You can talk about it, dream about, wish about it and even take action on it. But if your subconscious mind does not believe it to be true, you will remain stuck spinning your wheels forever.
On October 16, 2013 the National Post published an article by Sarah Lambersky titled:
“How to manage your 40,000 negative thoughts a day and keep moving forward”
In this article she writes:
“Let’s face it; our brains have it in for us. We produce up to 50,000 thoughts a day and 70% to 80% of those are negative. This translates into 40,000 negative thoughts a day that need managing and filtering — no small task for any person or entrepreneur.“
50,000 thoughts a day? Whaaaat?
Years ago, when I was in my 30’s, I worked as Vice President of Marketing with Dr. Lee Pulos.
During my 3 year tenure, Dr. Pulos was the President for the Canadian Society for Clinical Hypnosis.
This man is such a brilliant clinical psychologist, who taught me so much about the subconscious mind.
At the time, he was curing stage 4 terminal cancer patients by teaching them the healing capabilities of the human consciousness and how to clear out the subconscious mind; like hitting the REBOOT button on your PC or laptop.
People that were given 3 to 6 months to live were putting their cancer into full remission using Dr. Pulos’ training.
But how is that possible? To defy even the medical professionals with the power of the mind?
“You see…here is the challenge with the subconscious mind” Dr. Pulos used to say to me.
“If you look at the comparison between the conscious mind and the subconscious mind Darren, it’s like putting a little tiny golf ball on top of BC Place Stadium. The golf ball is your conscious mind of what you think you think; and BC Place Stadium is your subconscious mind of what you REALLY think. Your subconscious mind is what is steering the ship”
Hey wait a minute…how does that work?
Dr. Pulos went on to explain to me how the subconscious mind does not know the difference between a REAL EVENT and a PERCEIVED EVENT.
It also does not know the difference between the past, the present and the future.
In essence, the subconscious mind is storing every single thought as if it were a real event that actually happened.
So when you get a parking ticket, or a speeding ticket…
And you replay that event over and over in your mind…
Does that mean that it didn’t just happen to you ONCE as far as your subconscious mind is concerned?
Each time you replay the event, your subconscious mind stores that event like it actually happened…
Again….and again….and again….and again.
In essence you could get that speeding ticket 1000 times, or more.
The more traumatic the event, the more your conscious mind replays it over and over and over and stores it in your subconscious mind.
Pretty crazy right?
And pretty daunting when you realize that those traumatic events that happened to you in your childhood may STILL be repeating themselves over and over EVEN TODAY.
Each time storing another event in your subconscious mind that is holding you back from succeeding.
Your mind has been programmed ever since you were a little baby.
From the very first words you heard.
And we learn from the repetition of certain words and phrases over and over until we can eventually speak a language.
But when we are the most curious about this new world and we see the sparkling crystal or the glass vase that is glistening and we reach out to touch it…
Our parents yell out these 4 predominant words.
This early programming started before you could even understand the language.
Before you even knew how to communicate.
And most of the times when those words were delivered to you they were loud, shocking and often times they were startling or traumatic.
How many times do you think you replayed those events over and over in your mind?
How many times did you replay events when you felt completely alone or abandoned in your crib?
How many times did you replay events where you didn’t feel loved by anyone?
Just brush it off right?
Imagine B.C. Place Stadium.
And it’s packed to the rafters with people in black suits.
And there is one person wearing a white suit.
And they have to keep running into the stadium up to the top of the stairs and tell the people one at a time in the stadium…
“Hey we’re supposed to be wearing white!”
Then run back down the stairs, back outside. Then back inside up to the top of the stairs.
“Hey we’re supposed to be wearing white!”
That’s the personal development
At some point, some of the black suits will start to change their suits to white.
But if that person doesn’t keep running in over and over and over to tell them to change from black to white.
The black suits will look at the white suits and say…
“What are you guys doing? The theme in here is BLACK. We’re all wearing BLACK SUITS..
So it’s important for you to know that…
The human brain is actually programmed to self destruct.
And unless you are feeding your brain with personal development DAILY and programming yourself to feel worthy of your greatness…
Chances are you will end up spinning your wheels forever, or self sabotaging your success when it happens.
In Napoleon Hill’s “Think and Grow Rich” there is an entire Chapter on Self Sabotage.
A book that I would highly recommend reading.
So the human brain is programmed to self destruct?
Well that’s just great. NOW WHAT DO YOU DO?
How do you get to the core root of your subconscious mind so that you can be more in control of your own destiny?
How do you get those black suits to convert to wearing white suits?
How do you get to the core of the self sabotage?
In essence you need to reprogram your program.
Tune in tomorrow on Day 3 of the 21 Day Blogging Challenge for…
As I start to reveal the strategies on what you can do to reprogram your programming.
